XM203 B.O.S.S. · First-time set-up
Support for your B.O.S.S.
Before you connect and activate your unit, work through the six steps below. They cover registration, the operation manual, controls, wiring, maintenance and safe firing — and will get you reliable performance from day one.

Step 01
Register your product
Registration activates your warranty and confirms you understand the operating risks: hearing protection, awareness of people and animals nearby, fire risk and more.
Step 02
Read the operation manual
Correct installation and a clear understanding of how the system operates are essential. Download the manual and keep it as your reference.
Step 03
Get to know the system
The XM203 is gas-operated and, like an engine, takes some time to learn. With use you will recognise by sound and feel when it needs adjusting — for example, when gas is running low. Take the time to learn how it behaves; RDX support is there if anything doesn’t go as expected.
The controls and firmware guide explains every function and control on the unit.
Step 04
Understand the wiring
The XM203 needs negative, positive and signal connections, which can be difficult to take from the host weapon. The video covers the minimum requirements to get your unit running.
The SDM (Shot Detection Module) can simplify some installations.
Step 05
Lubricate and clean
Before each use, oil or lubricate the indicated areas. Skipping this reduces performance and can eventually damage the rear firing seal.
Which oil to use
Standard silicone oil burns off quickly. It can be used on the firing sleeve and cylinder, but use a heavier-duty oil on the rear seal. RDX recommends Breakthrough Battle Born High-Purity Oil. Whatever you use must be non-flammable, non-toxic and compatible with silicone and NBR (nitrile rubber) seals and O-rings.
Keep it clean
Regularly check the oiled areas and clean off dirt and grime. The system tolerates significant dust and debris, but periodic inspection protects the rear seal and keeps the unit reliable.

Step 06
Manage heat and rate of fire
The XM203 generates heat with every shot, so avoid continuous fire for long periods. Excessive heat can tear a seal — disabling the unit until it is replaced — and can damage the XM203 or cause burns if touched.
Check the front firing sleeve regularly. After 50–100 shots it should feel warm but still be comfortable to hold. If it is too hot to touch, stop and let the unit cool for 2–3 minutes before resuming.
Hearing protection required. Output is approximately 140–150 dB. Be aware of people and animals nearby before firing.
